Wranglers Name Head Football Coach
AUSTIN, TX -- The Austin Wranglers are proud to announce Carlos Garcia as the team’s new Head Football Coach ahead of the 2025 National Gridiron League season. Coach Garcia brings a deep-rooted passion for the game, a proven ability to lead, and a history of molding athletes on and off the field. With years of experience in high school and youth football, he now takes the next step in his coaching career—guiding the Wranglers in their return to professional football.
Garcia’s coaching resume spans over two decades, during which time he built a reputation for developing disciplined, high-character teams throughout Texas. His success in local high school programs has been highlighted by district championships, playoff runs, and, most importantly, mentorship that has helped countless players pursue college football and reach their full potential.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Garcia to the Wranglers family,” said NGL President Joe McClendon III. “His knowledge of the game and strong ties to the Central Texas football community will be invaluable as we build a team that represents the spirit and grit of Austin.”
The appointment of Garcia marks an exciting new chapter for the Wranglers as the team prepares for its debut season at Wrangler Stadium located at the Travis County Expo Center. Known for his energy and commitment to fundamentals, Garcia’s coaching style emphasizes discipline, execution, and player development—an ideal match for the Wranglers’ long-term vision.
Coach Garcia’s football philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, preparation, and character. He holds his players to a high standard through phrases defining his coaching approach: “Play fast, play physical, and have fun,” and “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable.” Because “Preparation builds confidence,” Garcia expects full commitment on and off the field. With this mindset, the Wranglers aim to become more than just a football team; they’re building a unified, accountable brotherhood ready to compete at the highest level.
With training camp set to begin in just a few weeks, Garcia will quickly assemble his coaching staff and evaluate talent. The Wranglers are expected to host tryouts and community engagement events in the coming months as the team looks to build excitement and connect with fans throughout the Austin area.
